Op 28 januari is het de Europese Dag van de Privacy. Een dag in het teken van zorgvuldig omgaan met persoonsgegevens. In komen Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) aan bod als hulpmiddel bij datagedreven werken.
PETs zijn technieken die het mogelijk maken om data te gebruiken, te combineren of te analyseren, terwijl de privacy van betrokkenen beschermd blijft. Organisaties kunnen zo inzichten uit data halen zonder dat persoonsgegevens direct zichtbaar of herleidbaar zijn. Dit biedt ruimte voor datagedreven werken binnen de geldende wettelijke kaders.
Samenwerken met behoud van privacy
In een datagedreven overheid groeit de behoefte aan samenwerking en datadeling. Tegelijk nemen de eisen aan privacybescherming toe. PETs helpen om deze spanning te verkleinen. Ze maken het mogelijk om gegevens te benutten voor beleid, toezicht en uitvoering, zonder dat alle data volledig gedeeld hoeft te worden.
Toepassing in de praktijk
In de praktijk zijn PETs nog relatief onbekend en beperkt toegepast. Veel organisaties zoeken naar duidelijkheid over wanneer en hoe deze technieken effectief inzetbaar zijn. Ook bestaat behoefte aan concrete voorbeelden uit de praktijk. Door kennis te bundelen en ervaringen te delen, ontstaat beter inzicht in de mogelijkheden en beperkingen van PETs.
Rol van NICPET
Het richt zich op het vergroten van kennis over PETs en het ondersteunen van toepassing ervan binnen de publieke sector. De aandacht gaat niet alleen uit naar techniek. Ook vragen rond governance, juridische kaders en praktische inzet spelen een belangrijke rol. NICPET deelt inzichten, voorbeelden en ervaringen om organisaties te helpen bij het maken van afgewogen keuzes.

I'm trying to adopt an inside shoes/outside shoes policy. I have a hard time remembering to switch footwear at the threshold, so I've been singing the Mister Roger's Neighborhood theme song every time I leave or return to the house. That cat knew what was what.
Another obstacle to success is the fact that we have multiple entry points into the home, which we use more or less often, but not never. So, if I want to leave the house by an alternate route, I have to go to front door to fetch my outside shoes and carry them to my portal of choice. But, if I'm already at the front door, why not just exit there Plus, if I do haul the shoes to another exit, I have to remember to come back in that way or I'll be traipsing through the house in my stockings trying to find my inside shoes.
All of this drama is compounded by the fact that we have pets messy, messy pets. So, what's the point really
Any tips or encouragements are appreciated.
