My best friend passed away 9 days ago after dying in my arms. He was extraordinarily gentle, amiable, and loving, whispering into my ear when I would nap. I am trying to console and stimulate the mind of his mate, and hope to find her next partner soon. I miss Hari beyond my ability to write. Every blue sky with clouds reminds me of him, and he takes up so much space in my mind that I have trouble filling it with anything else.

Pax is up and energetic this morning. Her eye is still in the process of healing. You can see in the photo that the iris in her right eye appears to be larger than the left. The vet says the cornea is ulcerated, and the good news is that it's already trying to heal on its own.
Victory: My husband and I were able to administer the drops this morning without one of us having to make a trip to Urgent Care!

So we recently noticed that one of Pax's eyes was not right. It was closed and oozing discharge. We had thought it was infected and began to treat it with the ointment we had left over from one of the cats' eye infections. It started to look better. But lately it seemed more likely that the real problem was that the eye was injured rather than infected.
We saw the vet today and indeed he said it is an eye injury. He also said it looks like it has been trying to heal on its own. He gave us two types of drops to administer to help it heal.
No wonder the poor little thing bit me the other day when I tried to apply eye ointment! She was in pain. I'm so glad we took her to the vet today! I expect she'll feel much better soon.
