5/5. I tried to stress with her how serious it is to allow a dog that size with that sort of temperament to run around off leash where kids & adults are nearby.
I don't think much will happen except I'm afraid she may surrender the dog to the local shelter.
4/5 She was apologetic and blamed the dog for being untrainable. She also admitted, probably without realizing, that the dog is unvaccinated.
I'm a little worried about the kids, and what she might do to them as punishment. The little one answered the door & when he saw me standing outside, he looked scared. I told him he wasn't in trouble.
3/5 This is the same dog that charges against my closed screen door & attempts to attack my chihuahua who's on the inside. The dog is a menace. Several months ago I tried to talk to their parent(s) without success.
So I sat for a while trying to decide how to handle the situation. I settled on going to try to speak to their adult caregiver who turns out to be their grandma.
2/5 When I walked away the dog charged from behind & bit the back of my leg at my knee. Because of my clothing it didn't break the skin, and I managed to stay on my feet in spite of the force of being hit from behind.
I turned & told the kids the small one was not strong enough to control the dog & that it bit me.
1/5 So...I was bitten by a dog right outside my front door today.
The same 3 brothers (kids) who play in the small playground had their large () poodle with them leash trailing behind the dog.
As I approached my door from the parking lot, the dog began barking aggressively, but stood still about 4.5 feet away. I stopped & the smallest kid (about 7 yo) grabbed the leash & attempted to control the dog which easily weighs 50 pounds.
The impossible choice:
Clean up the cat puke right away or let it cool down a bit first.
or pretend you didnt see it and hope someone else cleans it up (bad choice if you live alone).
or get a dog.
or let it dry.
