He arrived on my doorstep in 2021 as a lost and terrified kitten. It was obvious that he came from a domesticated mother but he was not micro-chipped. I asked around but no one claimed him. The French are still superstitious about black cats!
Anyway, we loved each other at first sight! He is my "baby"!

Somebody there wrote her name, rest in peace with all the balloons and treats, sweet Juliette, and they linked the series from when she was still here so people could go and look at her.
The photo they picked is the last one I took, the little bag with her ashes and the card with her name on it.
She died eleven days ago and I did not expect any of this to happen.

One quirk of the language I've always found disconcerting is the use of "dad" and "mom" for pet owners. Swedish has unique gendered names for pet owners nothing like the words for father or mother.
I love like all family members but still find the use of mom, dad, son, daughter etc to be just plain weird, creepy even.
Are there other specific words for "female pet owner" to use that still convey a family vibe

I adopted Indie from a local shelter in 2018, when he was a young kitten. The pads of his paws are black rather than pink and he has distinctive tabby-like markings, white bib and tummy and a beautiful fluffy tail.
He is such a character! Loud meow and very bossy! He will only tolerate hugs when he initiates contact otherwise, he digs in his claws before leaving!
