I need (wellwant) to determine how much water my dogs are drinking. Multi-dog household. Vets keep asking and I keep not knowing and thats a drag. Has anyone purchased or built a system that can accommodate this need i.e. at will I can pull a report that documents how many milliliters of water each dog in my house has consumed daily (within reasonable error bars).
Im more than willing to build this - Im currently thinking about cannibalizing a postal scale for the form factor, wiring its load cell up to a rasp pi via an adc or whateverthen doing something for dog-discrimination. Image-based, while fun, seems overkill and over complicated so Im leaning rfid tags on their collars but dont know if 20-40cm tags are a thing Im more than willing to ignore corner cases of more than one dog drinking from the same bowl at the same time, ignoring drips, etc.
Anywho if anyone has done this Id love to hear. Regardless Ill plan to post updates as I go. Thanks!
