Emma was almost 13 years old when she was diagnosed with diabetes. As her owner, father, human, lover, whatever, I took care of her with a carefully timed meal routine instead of free-feeding, administered two insulin shots a day (she did not feel the needle but I did prick my finger several times), kept the water fountain filled against her unquenchable diabetic thirst, and the litter box emptied.

There is a difference between the veterinary industry and the veterinary profession. I will note that vet prices have increased greatly in recent years. Vet salaries, funnily enough, have not. Most vets are owned by large corporate groups now. If only there was a simple way to explain all these facts that didnt involve greedy vets.
But as prices go up, animal welfare suffers. The investigation is a Good Thing so long as it leads to cheaper care for clients.
Im pleased to hear the UK competition authority on vet pricing, a full investigation is long overdue.
My big worry, however, is that vets will get the brunt of public anger, which they do not deserve.

I couldnt concentrate at the PDSA with Dexter. Understaffed, busy because of emergencies, bright, noisy and got shouted at by other people with their pet.
Was really struggling to process what was being said to me because of this, but vet wrote it down for me when I said.

There is no pre-emptive scheduling algorithm that will keep them satisfied, real-time interrupt handling is what keeps us rolling.
